Vintage illustration classic fairy tale image, the Pied Piper of Hamelin is the subject of a legend concerning the departure or death of a great many children from the town of Hameln, Germany, in the Middle Ages. The earliest references describe a piper, dressed in pied (multicolored) clothing, leading the children away from the town never to return. In the 16th century the story was expanded into a full narrative, in which the piper is a rat-catcher hired by the town to lure rats away with music form his magic pipe. When the citizens refuse to pay for this service, he retaliates by turning his magic on their children, leading them away as he had the rats.

Hamelin Bay in the South West of Western Australia is a pretty incredible place. The beaches are stunning, a perfect place for snorkelling and swimming. Every afternoon you can hand feed giant stingrays. This shot is a long exposure on sunset of the remains of the old jetty. The old Hamelin Bay Jetty was destroyed by a cyclone that came through decades ago.

Pied Piper A statue of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, the principal character of a poem by Robert Browning. The statue can be found in the grounds of Hampton Court Castle, Hope-Under-Dinmore, near Leominster, Herefordshire. Date: 2nd April 2016.
