Autobots insignia distressed logo

The Autobots are one of the primary factions in the Transformers mythos. They usually find themselves defending both their own race and other species against the Decepticons and upholding justice and freedom throughout the galaxy. They are considered "the good guys" in most, but not in all Transformers stories.

Faction insignia were used to differentiate heroes and villains in several 1980s Hasbro toylines, including G.I. Joe and Visionaries, but the Transformers toys were the first to make heavy use of the idea on the toys themselves. The original Autobot and Decepticon insignias, supposedly designed by Wayne Molinare, were seemingly based on toys from the first year of the original Transformers toyline; the Autobot symbol is a heavily stylized and simplified version of the face of Prowl, while the Decepticon insignia is drawn from that of Soundwave.

They do it. We love it. Repaints are an exciting (and sometimes annoying) staple in the world of toy collecting. It's a cheap way to justify a new sculpt and if you're like me, and when you see a figure in red you instantly want it in blue as well, then you'll understand exactly what Reduce, Reuse, Repaint is all about.
