The Saint Marks Baths opened at 6 St. Marks Place in the East Village of Manhattan in New York City in 1913. Through the 1950s, it operated as a Turkish bath catering primarily to Russian-Jewish immigrants on New York's Lower East Side. In the 1950s, it began to have a homosexual clientele at night and by the 1960s, it had become an exclusively gay bathhouse. In 1979, the bathhouse was refurbished, and the name was changed to New Saint Marks Baths, though it continued to be known simply as Saint Marks Baths. In 1981, the neighboring building was purchased, with plans to expand. The AIDS epidemic caused some activists such as Larry Kramer to urge its closing, and St. Mark's Baths would be shuttered on December 7, 1985.

Grace Beverly Jones OJ (born 19 May 1948) is a Jamaican-American supermodel, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. Born in Jamaica, she moved when she was 13, along with her siblings, to live with her parents in Syracuse, New York. Jones began her modelling career in New York state, then in Paris, working for fashion houses such as Yves St. Laurent and Kenzo, and appearing on the covers of Elle and Vogue. She worked with photographers such as Jean-Paul Goude, Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, and Hans Feurer, and became known for her distinctive androgynous appearance and bold features.

Funny. Crude. Relatable.

In this fictional account of one of the gayest musical acts in history, fashion model Samantha Simpson helps her roommate, Jack Morrell, try to get a record deal. Morrell's demo isn't great, so Simpson searches New York for a proper group to sing the songs and finds a group made up of a police officer, a cowboy, a construction worker, a soldier, an Indian, and a biker. They are primed for success, but complications arise when advertisers grow wary of their 'tough guy' image that somehow has women everywhere swooning. Absurdity aside, this is a disco-focused comedy musical that for some reason was slated for release well after the disco craze had started to fizzle out, so just based on that, you can imagine how well it did at the box office.
